Joint party for Chase & Chaeli

The 7th year is supposed to signify first independence and seen as an important milestone in the life of a child. This when they enter grade school and gain steady friends to celebrate this said birthday. Chase will be turning seven on the first week of December and because we want to make it special (not exactly extravagant), we asked him six months before what he wanted in a party. He answered that he doesn’t want any party but want to go to Disneyland Hong Kong instead (Good job Disney channel!). So we booked our flights to Hong Kong when the cheapest fare came available.

But wait Chaeli is turning three on the last week of December and She has been asking us too for a party specifically one with her favorite characters “Jollibee and Hetty” (Just because she saw Chase’s 3rd Jollibee birthday album and watches alot of Jollibee series). Research says that that our earliest accurate memory occured after our 2nd birthday and Scientists claimed that children can correctly recall experiences from when they near three years of age. Having said that, the 3rd birthday is the first celebration that a child would remember and enjoy in his/her life. This is true for Chase, until now he remembered how Jollibee danced at his 3rd birthday party 🙂

So we have decided to have a joint celebration on Dec 28, 2014 at Chaeli’s favorite fastfood chain – Jollibee (Lego movie theme)!  I will try to update you with the party planning details and Chase’s HongKong itinerary in my upcoming posts so don’t forget to subscribe or join my Facebook fan page at

Are you the other woman?

We can’t always help who we fall for, but we can control our ACTIONS. Here’s my advice to all “other woman” and women to avoid being one.

1. Don’t take the bait! Even when he’s crossing the line between friendship and potential love, don’t let it get out of hand. You can’t control his actions but you can control yours. Resist believing his empty promises. The lines he feeds you are just that — Lines. Until he’s really done with his girl, there’s no you and him. Some guys just liked the thrill of flirting with another girl.

2. Demystify his personality. Are you putting him on a pedestal? If he’s your image of Mr. Perfect, it’s time to shatter the glass and see him for who he really is. Stop fixating on his good qualities and see him as an entire individual. Do not sell yourself short.

3. Find new people to hang out with. If you’re falling even harder because you’re always together if not always communicating. The solution is to move away and mean it. Don’t think of it as avoiding him. Think of it as exploring new worlds. Spend time with people who will keep your mind occupied and before you know it, he’s totally out of your system.

4. Confide in someone brutally honest. Sometimes it takes a hard shaking to get the feelings out of your system. I’m not saying you should set yourself up for a verbal battery, but talk t someone who will give you an honest feedback, Somebody elder than you or a mentor like priest or counselor. If you have a best-friend who loves you but know that will not tolerate you the better. Real friends are not afraid to crush you in order to save you.

5. Open yourself to dating. Find a new love interest. Don’t wait for someone who might never be yours and pick well. If somebody cheats with you, he will cheat on you too so why would you risk? Being single is better than being with a guy who’s already taken.

Ask for divine intervention too and raise your standards high. Every girl deserve no less than true love.

Gentle detox guide

Today we are exposed to an enormous variety of chemicals and toxins. In the last 50 years, it is estimated that man has created over 5 million new chemicals, 75,000 of which are in everyday use. Out of all these man-made chemicals fewer than 10% have even been tested for safety!

These chemicals can enter our systems through various means: food and drink, household cleansers, fabrics, and even the air we breathe. Worryingly, many chemicals of these chemicals naturally accumulate in the fat within our bodies.

How does it work?

Detox is generally regarded to work in several ways. One of the first benefits of fasting is that it gives the digestive tract some rest. The process of digestion – breaking down food into its component parts – requires an enormous amount of energy. During a detox, while the process of digestion is largely suspended, more energy can be diverted to other bodily functions, such as elimination.

Of course, this elimination process, which removes wastes and toxins from the body is ongoing whether we are doing a detox or not. In a healthy person it is the job of the liver and kidneys to detoxify the body. Supported by a healthy lifestyle these organs are supremely capable of doing their job. But modern life can take its toll on the efficiency of the eliminatory organs leaving us feeling sluggish and ‘out of sorts’.

During a fast or detox the body continues this natural process of excreting waste material and stored toxins (such as pollutants and allergens). However, because no energy is being used to digest food, and the person is not taking in any new toxins, the liver and kidneys may be able to work more efficiently.

Supporting your liver

Many fasting and detox regimes specifically focus on assisting the liver in the detoxification process, for instance with the addition of herbal remedies.

This is because the health of the liver is essential to our overall health and well-being. The liver carries out a large number of important functions, including assisting in the digestion of fats, storing glucose for energy and detoxifying the body of excess hormones, drugs and poisons.

These days our livers are functioning under a lot of strain as they detoxify and process the increasing quantity of chemicals and additives in modern foods.

The good news is that the liver can regenerate itself and this is why embarking on a detox programme, which gives the liver a break for a period of time, can be extremely beneficial in boosting health and vitality.

A 10-day detox

For someone who has a very poor diet, who may be regularly ingesting allergens, and pollutants, a short fast may lighten the load on the digestive and immune systems. As the body is cleared of toxins and allergens, symptoms associated with toxic overload should also be reduced.

A byproduct of this process is that it can help improve a wide range of skin problems, and help the skin to look clearer and more youthful.

To do a proper detox you need to choose a length of time, usually a minimum of 10 days to eat a very clean diet and avoid all the things you know are bad for you.

This cleansing diet below is suitable if you are basically healthy but want to clear your system out. If you have a specific health problem then you should consult a naturopath to help find a suitable program for yourself and remember that detoxing is not suitable just before or during pregnancy.

Pure and simple foods only. In order to allow your body to eliminate any toxic residues that may have built up, it is important to eat and drink only simple foodstuffs that the body can easily tolerate. Don’t let yourself get hungry.

Stock up on fruit (organic if possible) and keep some with you throughout the day in case you feel the need to snack. It’s best to clear your cupboards of snacks, treats and other ‘bad’ foods before the detox as old habits can be hard to break! Needless to say, avoid alcohol, smoking, tea (except herbal) and coffee.

Drink lots of still mineral water. You may experience some side effects as toxins are released into the body for elimination, the feeling can be similar to a hangover. Drink plenty of still mineral water (ideally at room temperature) to flush out your system and alleviate symptoms. Many of us tend to live in a constant state of dehydration – it is important to drink at least 1-2 litres of mineral water a day; if you are exercising you will need to rehydrate more than if you are sedentary.

If you suffer from headaches during the first few days, which can be a common symptom of withdrawal from tea or coffee, try not to take pain-killers, but sit or lie quietly. You may find it helps to gently press your thumbs on area of flesh above the bridge of your nose (between the brows). Then gently press with your middle fingers at regular points along the brow line, beginning at the centre and moving out to the edge of your brows.

Take it easy. Because you may feel tired, it’s best to plan your detox program for a week when you can take things easy. If you usually exercise, relax your routine. You should find that after the program you have more energy as your system is working more efficiently, and without caffeine you should be able to sleep better.

Wrap up warmly. During a detox you may feel more sensitive to cold. Wearing layers is best as you can adjust your clothing as necessary.

Get some fresh air. If the sun is out try go get 10 to 20 minutes day of exposure each day.

Avoid exposures to chemicals such as those contained in toiletries and household cleaners as these add to your body’s toxic burden.

Remember also to be good to yourself. Reward yourself for the kindness and respect you are showing your body by treating yourself to luxurious mineral baths or hobbies and leisure activities you find relaxing. An aromatherapy massage can be a great addition to your detox plan; it not only benefits the body but delights the senses.

Detoxing is about celebrating your health, not about depriving yourself, enjoy the experience!

When you are ready to break your fast do so slowly choosing small quantities of food (fruits and vegetables are ideal) at room temperature. Eat slowly and chew thoroughly. It is a good idea to follow a vegetarian or vegan diet for the first few days.

How to Apply Fake Eyelashes

Who doesn’t want to be able to flutter long, thick, beautiful lashes? Unfortunately, not all of us are blessed with a fairytale-worthy set. Although many of us turn to enhancers or growth serums from brands like Revitalash, Neulash, or prescription strength Latisse to take our lashes to new lengths, false lashes offer a quick temporary fix. And they offer the versatility to suit your every mood: from natural looking to completely over-the-top effects.

While there are hundreds of brands, lengths, and styles to choose from, the application process is quite standard—as is the removal process! If properly removed, temporary lashes won’t harm your natural lashes. Plus, if you treat your disposable lashes with care, you can use them over and over again, extending their lifecycle and value.

Step 1: Size your lashes. Often lashes are oversized to fit all eye-shapes, and may have a sharper edge that can feel uncomfortable on the eyelid. Prior to adding the adhesive, size the lash across your lid. Trim down the sides, using cuticle scissors if necessary.

Another tip: cutting the strip in half can make application easier.

Step 2 : Instead of adding eyelash glue directly to the back of the lashes, squeeze the adhesive in a fine line onto your non-dominant hand and then run the seam of the lash through the glue for a more even application.

Step 3: Wait a few seconds for the glue to dry, and then place the strip on the outer half of your upper lid (as close to your natural lashes as possible). Place the seam along your lashline, going in a downward motion. You should be pushing the strip down into your lashline, rather than applying the lashes from the front.

If you cut the strip in half in Step 1, repeat the process to place the lashes on the inner half of your upper lashline.

Step 4: For a more natural effect, use liquid liner along the lashline to conceal any sign of the lash strip.

If working with individual lashes, the process is the same: just make sure to start with the outer corner and work your way in.

** When removing the lashes, do not rip the strip. This can tear out your natural lashes. Instead, dip a Q-Tip or cotton swab into eye makeup remover and gently run it along the lash line. The false lashes should naturally begin to fall off. Gently glide the strip off with your fingers. Then use another swab to remove any excess glue.

Place the false lash carefully back in its case for next time. Generally, false lashes are packaged so they lie along a curved plastic container. Putting the lashes back on that curve helps them keep their

Foot care

Our feet need as much care as rest of our body. We often neglect our feet and give more attention to our face and hair. Even if your feet is tucked in socks and boots all winter, they can still be affected from the weather.

Exfoliation and moisturizing is an important step for healthy feet. Scrubs are great such as sugar or salt scrubs are all natural and good for your feet. Make sure your nails are healthy and skin is not dry or cracked heels.

The first step is to exfoliate using a scrub. You could do this step in the shower, The steam from the shower will soften the dry heels and skin. Massage the scrub in circular motion for about a minute. The sugar granules are abrassive which is a perfect natural exfoliater. You can also use a pumice stone for removing dead skin cells. The tool is usually double sided, one side is a hard scrubber and other is brush side. Use the hard side on your heels and brush side on your nails.

Then moisturize. The best overnight treatment for dry and cracked heels is to apply a rich body butter or vaseline. Massage your feet and wear socks. Wash in morning with a mild soap or body wash and dry with a towel. Your could do this treatment once in a week or twice depending on how dry your feet are. Also, keep your feet regularly moisturized.

Serenity prayer

I am guilty of over-thinking so many things that often leads me to my stress and anxieties. Today I am sharing to you one of my favorite prayer in times of uncertainty and stress. It’s a powerful prayer for guidance and serenity. It is authored by the American theologian Reinhold Nieburh, here it goes:

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.”

From long to short hair

Since grade school, I’ve always had long thick hair. The length should always past below my shoulder and I would always tell the stylist not to go above it even if it’s just an inch. I thought any style shorter than that would look unflattering to me. Although, I’ve always wondered how I would look on short hair and secretly dreamed of having one.

The wig

The wig

And so I started envisioning my head with a short bob cut and I mean literally. I bought a wig and posted a selfie wearing it. To my surprise, my friends thought it looked great on me and even asked the name of my “supposed” stylist. That gave me a little courage but wasn’t enough though to made me to it. A year after, I became a stay-at-home mom and I never thought how difficult it can be to maintain and comb my hair once a day with all my chores haha 🙂 Then finally decided to make my wig a reality. 😉 If you’re planning to have your long hair cut short, learn from my tips below.

Do a research for the best cut that will work on your face shape. You can ask your stylist for advice before making this big decision.

Choose a style that reflect your personality. You have to be confident in a cut that suits you.

Try cutting your hair into stages. Just because that bob cut looks great on your favorite celeberity doesn’t mean it will great on you. By cutting your hair into stages, you can see how a certain length suits well on you.

Relax and have fun styling your new hair. Embrace your new look and stay gorgeous.

Cutting my hair short gives me a sense of freedom from my old look, dry and damaged hair. Remember your hair will eventually grow back and it’s going to be a new and better hair than before.
